When most people hear the words Jersey Shore, their thoughts immediately jump to the beach. Manasquan, like many of their neighboring shore towns, is after all a popular summer tourist destination where families can visit to catch some waves or tan in the warm sun. To those that follow sports, the word Manasquan is often followed by the word football. For almost a full century, the Big Blue Warriors' football program has been a mainstay as one of the powers of New Jersey high school football. Manasquan holds a Shore Conference record 12 state championships in the playoff era and 5 more state championships from the time before the state let teams play extra games for the trophy.

The program has been led by an array of outstanding coaches. Granville Magee was the first of those coaches to win a state championship in 1939. He would go on to win 2 more in 1946-1947 after he returned from fighting for our country in World War 2.

Hal Manson would lead Big Blue to another state championship in 1958 while grooming a quarterback that would eventually come back to lead his alma mater to more titles.

Under the steady leadership of Jack Hawkins, Manasquan would win again in 1969. Hawkins would lead the team to back to back undefeated seasons in 1972 and 1973. Unfortunately the state relied on a points system to award state titles at the time with the Big Blue Warriors not being awarded under that system.

Gary Chapman would lead the Big Blue Warriors until 1985 when Hal Manson's quarterback prodigy returned from coaching stint's at Brick Township and Middletown North to lead his old school.

Vic Kubu would go on to lead the Warriors to unprecedented success between 1985-2006 with numerous division titles and a perfect 10 state championships culminating with a perfect 12-0 record in his final season.

Coach Kubu passed away in 2007, but his legacy and imprint on the program remains today.

Pete Cahill would take over the reigns in 2007. Following in the footsteps of a legend was no easy task, but Coach Cahill would make his mentor proud, winning the school's 11th state championship in the playoff era with a team many considered underdogs. Coach Cahill would soon step into an administrator role with the head coaching job falling to Jay Price.

In 2016, Jay Price would lead the Big Blue Warriors to their 12th state championship after playing perhaps the most difficult schedule in school history against much bigger schools. Coach Price continues to lead the Warriors in the present day.

This site was created to preserve the history of Manasquan Football in one place. There have been many outstanding players to wear the Blue and Gray. Feel free to check out the history section to read more about them!
